Media Man Group Blog

SEO for Business

In today's digital landscape, businesses must harness the power of search engine optimization (SEO) to stay competitive and thrive. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the numerous benefits of SEO for small businesses and provide actionable tips to help you maximize your online presence.

Introduction to SEO for Small Businesses

SEO is the process of optimizing your website and online content to improve your visibility on search engines like Google. By implementing effective SEO strategies, small businesses can enjoy a myriad of benefits, such as increased organic traffic, better user experience, and higher conversion rates.

Increased Visibility and Brand Awareness

SEO helps small businesses rank higher on search engine results pages (SERPs) for relevant keywords. This increased visibility leads to greater brand awareness, as users are more likely to discover and engage with your business online.

Actionable Tip: Perform keyword research using tools like Google Keyword Planner to identify high-traffic keywords relevant to your business.

Enhanced User Experience

Optimizing your website for SEO often involves improving user experience (UX), such as faster loading times, mobile responsiveness, and intuitive site navigation. A better UX leads to higher user engagement, lower bounce rates, and improved search rankings.

Actionable Tip: Conduct a site audit to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance UX.

Cost-Effective Marketing

Compared to traditional marketing channels, SEO is a cost-effective way to reach your target audience. By investing in SEO, small businesses can generate a higher return on investment (ROI) and allocate their marketing budget more efficiently.

Actionable Tip: Focus on creating high-quality, shareable content to attract organic traffic and backlinks, reducing your reliance on paid advertising.

Targeted and Sustainable Traffic

SEO enables small businesses to attract targeted traffic by ranking for industry-specific keywords. This ensures that the visitors to your site are interested in your products or services, increasing the likelihood of conversion. Additionally, effective SEO strategies result in sustainable, long-term traffic growth.

Actionable Tip: Create and optimize content that addresses the needs and interests of your target audience.

Improved Conversion Rates

By attracting targeted traffic and providing an exceptional user experience, SEO can lead to higher conversion rates. Users who find your website through organic search are more likely to convert into customers, as they are actively seeking solutions that your business offers.

Actionable Tip: Optimize your website for conversions by using clear calls-to-action (CTAs) and simple, user-friendly forms.

Establishing Authority and Trust

A well-optimized website with valuable content and a strong backlink profile establishes your business as an authority in your industry. By ranking high on SERPs, users perceive your brand as trustworthy, which can significantly impact their purchasing decisions.

Actionable Tip: Produce high-quality, informative content and collaborate with industry influencers to build your online reputation and earn valuable backlinks.

Competitive Advantage

Investing in SEO helps small businesses stay ahead of the competition by ranking higher on search results for relevant keywords. By dominating the search results, you can capture a larger market share and increase your brand's visibility.

Actionable Tip: Perform a competitive analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors' SEO strategies and capitalize on any gaps in the market.

Long-term Success

SEO is a long-term investment that can yield significant benefits over time. As search engines continue to evolve, businesses that prioritize SEO will be better equipped to adapt to changing algorithms and maintain their online presence.

Actionable Tip: Stay updated with the latest SEO trends, SEO Tools and best practices to ensure your strategies remain effective and future-proof.

Conclusion

By leveraging the power of SEO, small businesses can enjoy numerous benefits, including increased visibility, enhanced user experience, cost-effective marketing, targeted and sustainable traffic, improved conversion rates, authority and trust establishment, competitive advantage, and long-term success. To maximize these benefits, consistently monitor and refine your SEO strategies to stay ahead in the ever-changing digital landscape.

3D For Australian Sports, TV Series, Web And Casinos, by Greg Tingle - 21st May 2010

3D technology is on fire, a bushfire on steroids in fact, down under in Australia. Media Man, Gambling911 and readers don the 3D glasses and look and see what's cooking in Aussie sports, movies, casinos, poker and more...

It's all about entertainment, eyeballs, and the entertainment dollar. 'Entertainment' is something that PartyGaming, Virgin Games (and Media Man and Gambling911) are big on. What's the point in advanced technology if its not fun and entertaining to the punter or consumer at large? Content producers and platforms have largely also realised that a product or service for gamblers, gamers or combo, needs to be compelling, or they won't come back and will find another game, website, live event or whatever. Have you checked out the Gambling911 forum or Media Man YouTube lately?

With that in mind check out the huge amount of entertainment on now, and coming up for gamers, gamblers, sports punters and even tech heads and geeks...

FIFA World Cup in South Africa

SBS has announced it will form a three-way partnership with Sony and Harvey Norman to bring Australian soccer nuts the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 3D.

The partnership means up to 15 matches throughout the World Cup tournament will be available on a dedicated 3D channel in addition to SBS’s coverage – including Australia’s opening match against Germany.

FIFA will provide a 3D broadcast feed of matches throughout the tournament, which will then be broadcast live by SBS and then repeated on a "loop" until the next 3D match is made available.

"The Australian Communications and Media Authority has been working with us on a spectrum solution and we will be using our digital transmission network for the broadcast," said SBS’s chief operating officer Richard Finlayson.

Australian Socceroos Catch 3D Fever

The Socceroos 2010 World Cup team anthem will feature what Sony music claims as the first 3D music video in Australia. The video clip for the Rogue Traders new single, Hearts Beat as One, will be shot in 3D as the official Qantas Socceroos team anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

"The potential of movies, sports and gaming in 3D is already evident and as the hype around 3D continues to build, Sony remains at the forefront of delivering unique experiences from the lens to the lounge room," said Carl Rose, Managing Director, Sony Australia and New Zealand.

3D technology in Australia continues to generate unprecedented hype in Australia with SBS to trial 3D TV broadcasts for the duration of the 2010 World Cup, Channel 9 screening the State of Origin in 3D, and Foxtel strongly hinted its intention to start broadcasting in 3D later this year.

Major television manufacturers including Sony have also been pushing 3D technology hard after the widespread theatrical success of Avatar in 3D.

Sony expects the 3D music video to premiere in early June.

Google TV To Including Gaming And Lots More

Internet king Google is out to expand its kingdom to the living room with an new service that lets punters mesh television viewing with surfing the web.

Google TV, developed in partnership with technology big shots Sony, Intel and Logitech and launched in the US overnight, fuses the freedom of the internet with television programming.

Google executives vowed their TV platform would succeed where offerings such as Apple TV have foundered and hopefully capture some of the $US70 billion ($85 billion) American TV advertising market.

Google TV product manager Salahuddin Choudhary said in a blog post that Google TV will allow TV viewers to get "all the (TV) channels and shows you normally watch and all of the websites you browse all day.

"You can access all of your favorite websites and easily move between television and the Web," Choudhary said.

"This opens up your TV from a few hundred channels to millions of channels of entertainment across TV and the Web," he said.

"With the entire Internet in your living room, your TV becomes more than a TV - it can be a photo slideshow viewer, a gaming console, a music player and much more," he added.

Google is not the first technology company to attempt to unite the TV set and the Internet and a number of electronics manufacturers are already offering Web-enabled televisions or digital set-top boxes.

Choudhary said the Internet-enabled televisions, Blu-ray players and companion boxes from Sony and Logitech, which are powered by Intel Atom computer chips, would be available soon in the U.S via Best Buy stores. No dates for Australia yet.

A wireless computer keyboard and box were used during the on-stage demonstration here of Google TV, which uses traditional search to find TV channels or websites.

Sony chief executive Howard Stringer described it as "a very big deal."

"I can't stress that enough," Stringer said on stage. "When you put all this, as we've done for the fall, into the world's first Internet television, the opportunities are, in a sense, just mind boggling."

Google did not announce pricing for the TV sets or the set-top boxes.

Other Developments

PartyGaming

Not to be outdone, PartyGaming's PartyCasino has released the Circus Slot, more a 2D experience, but is understood to be the world's first interactive role playing online slot game. Party insiders say to expect "Avatar" type technologies with the Sly Stallone name coming up in Chinese whispers. Rocky or The Expendables? Who knows, but its going to be even bigger and better than Evolution Gaming 'Live Dealer' we hear. 'Rambo' is already available at Party, which is a good sign of substance to the buzz.

PartyCasino.com

Virgin

Richard Branson's Virgin Games is expanding globally, with virtual world platform, AWOMO (A World Of My Own) to be a major focus. Think Tomb Raider: Underworld ... in 2D, maybe 3D at some stage. Whatever the case, its going to be out of this world, fast and value for money. How long till Aussies and Americans can get the downloads remains to be seen, but Branson is to hard launch the product at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles next month.

VirginCasino.com

PKR Poker, Casino And Now Sports Betting

Yep, world famous 3D poker rooms, PKR, now not only offers poker, but also casino games and sports betting. The virtual reality live poker remains their main drawcard, however they smartly realised that poker players generally also like a bit of casino games and sports punting on the side

PKR.com

SEGA

Understood to have done a considerable deal with Playtech. Casino and poker is on the menu Sega style. Media Man is not impressed yet...with the technology, however, that's not to say that we won't be in coming weeks and months. Next...

FOXTEL - Microsoft Xbox LIVE deal (not gambling, but speculation)

FOXTEL has signed a deal with Microsoft to deliver 30 channels of pay TV over the internet.

FOXTEL and Microsoft today announced a new partnership offering Australians a brand new way of receiving FOXTEL – over the internet and direct to television sets through Xbox 360’s online service Xbox LIVE.

FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE will allow Xbox 360 owners in Australia to access FOXTEL channels including FOX Sports, Discovery, Nickelodeon, Disney, MTV, and other leading channels via their Xbox 360 entertainment console.

FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE will also provide a wide range of Video-on-Demand (VoD) services, including television series and movies. When the ground-breaking service launches later this year it will enable Australians, for the first time, to access FOXTEL without the need for a FOXTEL set-top-box.

FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE will be accessible in FOXTEL areas across Australia to all homes with a broadband internet connection. All you need is an Xbox 360, an Xbox Gold subscription and a FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE subscription.

The agreement brings together two of Australia’s most recognised and respected brands combining each company’s profound entertainment and consumer offerings.FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE provides Australians a new way of enjoying FOXTEL, and cements Xbox 360 as one of this country’s leading innovative social entertainment platforms. Xbox LIVE connects more than 23 million people across 26 countries to an ever-expanding world of games, movies, TV, music, sport and social entertainment.

FOXTEL Chief Executive and Managing Director, Kim Williams AM said, “This is a very exciting new frontier. FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE will provide our 1.6 million subscribing households, as well as new customers, a transformative way of receiving and enjoying FOXTEL over the internet. We will offer FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE with various packages and prices and under flexible agreements. It is an exciting new way of exploring FOXTEL’s universe of content for a new generation of customers.”

SecondLife

Rumors persist that as different countries get their communications laws up to speed that SecondLife.com may once again offer pro active virtual casinos as part of their offering. The parent of SecondLife is Linden Research, and Linden Labs is understood to be where the "cool kids" hang out. The virtual currency is the Linden dollar L$

Network Nine Underbelly And NRL State Of Origin In 3D

Nine advise they will carry Rugby League's 'State of Origin' clash in 3D on 26th May. It's forecast to cost the network $10 million to broadcast, and Nine have flown over technology experts from the United States to make it happen.

Underbelly continues to drive forward the crime genre, and not just on TV. Wires are reporting that at least 3 Australian crime shows are due to be released over the next 12 months, quite likely soon, such is the current appetite of Australian audiences.

The next series of Underbelly, featuring the Gold Coast - up Surfers Paradise way, will be shot, pardon the pun, in 3D. The rumour mill says some scenes and footage is already "in the can" (also Aussie for in jail)!

Free Gaming VS Paid Gaming - Trends Summary

The US currently leads the world in online business revenues, but general belief is that the EU and other territories will continue to grow gaming revenue.

"These free options are definitely broadening the appeal of video games among older and female demographics, and a lot of these consumers don't actually consider themselves gamers at all," Michael Cai, vice president of video game research at Interpret.

"Without casual gaming portals like Pogo, Real Networks, and Big Fish Games, many older female gamers would have never paid for gaming content."

Interpret discovered that 21 per cent of the US population, or over 46.1 million Americans, play social network games. Over 11 million Americans only play social network games. The median age for social network gamers is 38.8, versus 30.9, which is the median age of console gamers.

Cai found that 12 per cent of these social network gamers plan on buying a Wii, which would be their first game console.

More console game makers are offering consumers free play, including downloadable game demos through Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade and Sony's PlayStation Network Store.

"Handing over free content to gamers can be tremendously beneficial to developers and publishers, even if it comes in the form of a short playable demo of a game that's not spectacular," said Patrick Shaw, features editor, GamePro Magazine.

Gaming on Facebook is becoming more popular, and players like to check out games on YouTube before signing up for accounts at game portals and online casinos. PartyGaming PartyCasino 'Pay For Free' (before 'Play For Money') option continues to be mega popular. Media Man has quizzed the powers that be on this matter, and has some data to prove this is the case. YouTube remains the king of internet streaming for the masses, and owned by Google, it can afford for it to be a loss leader if need be.

Censorship In Australia - Online, Offline and Everywhere

Richard Branson's Virgin and Google's 'Google Guys' remain in the long list of new media entrepreneurs seeking clarity on Australia's censorship laws, both current and upcoming. The current guidelines are an absolute mess and out of line with laws in other development countries such as the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.

The Aussie government initiative to filter the internet down under is currently due to be actioned in 1 to 3 months, depending upon what report and source you choose to believe. Govt legal eagles and policy makers are still deciding what to do as far as policy relating to video game ratings that are sold off the shelf, and technologies such as AWOMO (A World Of My Own) are likely to also be effected from Australian censorship laws (even if some quarters of the Australian government doesn't want to call it "censorship", we know better!

World Poker Tour Grand Prix De Paris Final Table Battle Taken To The Race Track! Live Reporting Main Event And Highrollers

LIVE REPORTING FINAL TABLE AT WORLD POKER TOUR® GRAND PRIX DE PARIS

Amourette hot to trot as World Poker Tour battle taken to the race-track!

(PARIS) May 15, 2010 – ‘Shuffle up and deal’ has been called for the final table of the World Poker Tour® Grand Prix de Paris Main Event at Aviation Club de France.

Live updates from the eight handed final table, including videos from WPT Live Updates hostess Jacque Williams can be found at World Poker Tour

The finale of the €10,000 main event is being filmed for worldwide television broadcast and started with a healthy total of 247 runners and total prize pool of €2,347,797. There are now eight players left, while 27 players in total make the money. First place scoops €633,902, a $25,000 seat to the WPT World Championship, and the coveted title of WPT Champion, while every final table participant is guaranteed at least €70,000.

The second televised event, the ACF’s €20,000 No Limit Hold ‘em High Roller Freeze Out tournament is also getting underway shortly and can be followed on live updates. Amongst those set to lock horns are Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier, Bruno Fitoussi, Sorel Mizzi, Freddy Deeb and Andrew Feldman. The televised final table takes place on Sunday.

In a first in World Poker Tour history, there was a very special event on Friday evening for the participants of the final table of the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris Main Event. Le PMU et le Cheval Français and ACF generously invited the players for a very special night of trotting at the superb state of the art Vincennes horse racing track. The main race, the ‘Finale du WPT Grand Prix de Paris’, took place at 8:48pm CET. At 10.30pm, however, the real fun started – all eight final table players took part in their very own televised horse and cart race!!

The winner on the night was France’s Antoine Amourette, who dramatically passed Bruno Fitoussi, who joined the final table participants in the race, on the line. ‘This was a brilliant experience, I hope it bodes well for the final table,’ said the hot to trot Frenchman. All round Danish action man and chipleader Theo Jorgensen played a key part in rounding up the players for the challenge. ‘What a brilliant race and what a way to to welcome PMU to the world of poker ! I am glad I beat Arnaud Mattern. He may have been voted the sexiest poker player in France but all that face saw was the back of my horse!’

Coverage of the race will be released on the internet soon. On a fantastic night, courtesy of Le PMU et le Cheval Français, there were a fair share of winners and losers. Swedish final table participants Jimmy Ostensson and Per Linde saw their gamble on ‘Swedishman’ fail, while the rivalries and banter between the final table participants were taken to a whole new level.

WPT Grand Prix de Paris – presented by PartyPoker.fr – final table

Seat 1: Mickael Guenni -- 538,000
Seat 2: Theo Jorgensen -- 2,693,000
Seat 3: Antoine Amourette -- 489,000
Seat 4: Per Linde -- 584,000
Seat 5: Jimmy Ostensson -- 436,000
Seat 6: Nourredine Aïtaleb -- 810,000
Seat 7: Fabrice Touil -- 1,183,000
Seat 8: Arnaud Mattern -- 678,000

Theo Jorgensen has cashed twice before on the World Poker Tour for a total of $33,000. Both cashes were way back in season three, with a best finish of 22nd at the 2005 World Poker Open. The remaining seven have not cashed on the World Poker Tour before. France has a strong contingent at the final table, with Arnaud Mattern fifth in chips. In a dramatic day four there were large swings for the majority of players but Jorgensen’s stack was consistent throughout. The bubble for the final table stretched late into the night, lasting six hours, with the unfortunate bubble boy being Ilan Boujeneh.

World Poker Tour announcer Mike Sexton said: ‘I would like to wish all the players the very best of luck for Saturday’s final table. With a significant chip lead, Theo has to start as favourite but there is a long way to go. I have played in Paris enough times and know you don’t underestimate the French contingent. The racing event sounds brilliant, I would like to thank Le PMU et le Cheval Français and ACF on behalf of everybody at the World Poker Tour.’

Amongst those who made the money included French actor and poker Patrick Bruel, Antony Lellouche and Russia’s Alexander Kravchenko. Bruel had a large supporting contingent on the rail and they were visibly deflated when he departed. Those who have hit the rail in this WPT 2010-2011 season kick-off event before the money included WPT Champions Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier, Guillaume Darcourt, Tommy Vedes, Freddy Deeb, Thomas Bichon, and Surinder Sunar (who took down this event in 2004), as well as other top names such as, John Juanda, Men ‘The Master’ Nguyen, Aussie Millions champion Tyron Krost, Sorel Mizzi, Isabelle Mercier, Ludovic Lacay, Roger Hairabredian, David Steicke, Casey Kastle, Roberto Romanello, Andrew Feldman and Remy Biechel. Coverage of the event is produced by Matchroom Sport.

Poker News Media: Theo Jorgensen Wins WPT Grand Prix de Paris - 16th May 2010

World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Theo Jorgensen came out on top in the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) Grand Prix de Paris on Saturday. Jorgensen, who once defeated Full Tilt Poker pro Gus Hansen in a boxing match, banked €633,000 from the €10,000 buy-in tournament. Jorgensen entered the final table as the chip leader.

A total of 247 players turned out for the Grand Prix de Paris and, when the smoke cleared, eight reached this weekend’s final table. Among those who sought poker glory in Paris and coughed up the €10,000 entry fee were November Nine member and Everest Poker pro Antoine Saout, Andrew Feldman, Aussie Millions Main Event winner Tyron Krost, Men “The Master” Nguyen, and PokerStars pro Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier.

Jimmy Ostensson was the final table’s first casualty, bowing out when his wired pair of nines could not hold up against the A-6 of Fabrice Touil. The flop came J-4-K, but a running A-6 sent Ostensson out of the Aviation Club and looking for a taxi on the world-famous Champs-Elysées.

Seventh place at the Grand Prix de Paris went to Arnaud Mattern, who picked an inopportune time to shove with A-Q, as Antoine Amourette picked up pocket rockets. Mattern, who won the 2007 European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague stop, picked up €82,000. Nourredine Aïtaleb was the next to go. Aïtaleb shoved with A-J, but ran into Per Linde’s pocket queens. Linde, who finished 13th in April’s EPT San Remo Main Event, was once one out away from elimination in Paris.

In the defining pot of the Grand Prix de Paris, Jorgensen doubled up at the expense of Amourette with pocket kings against pocket sevens. The board ran out 5-4-5-10-3 and Jorgensen scooped a 3.3 million chip pot, the largest of the tournament at the time. Amourette quickly doubled up to stave off being the Grand Prix de Paris’ fifth place finisher, a distinction that went to Touil, who committed his chips pre-flop with A-8. Jorgensen called with J-8, but spiked a jack on the turn to shrink the field even further.

Mikhael Guenni woke up with pocket fives when his stack amounted to just five big blinds, but ran into Jorgensen’s pocket nines and could not improve. Linde was the next to go. Short-stacked, he pushed all-in with a paltry 7-5 and failed to draw out on Jorgensen’s K-J. Jorgensen flopped a straight and never looked back, sending Linde home €234,000 richer for his wear.

Heads-up play spanned all of three hands. In the final pot, Amourette was all-in with K-6 and up against Jorgensen’s A-K. The board ran out 6-J-4-A-5 and Jorgensen claimed his first WPT title. The tournament marked Jorgensen’s first top 20 finish in a WPT event. His bracelet came in 2008 during the WSOP Europe festivities, where he outlasted a field of 165 players in a £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event for £218,000. Jorgensen defeated Titan Poker pro Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi heads-up for his WSOP title in a final table that also included Erik Friberg, Max Pescatori, Chris Ferguson, and Jason Mercier.

Here were the final table results from the WPT Grand Prix de Paris:

1. Theo Jorgensen – 633,902
2. Antoine Amourette – 328,690
3. Per Linde – 234,780
4. Mickael Guenni – 187,825
5. Fabrice Touil – 140,870
6. Nourredine Aïtaleb – 93,910
7. Arnaud Mattern – 82,175
8. Jimmy Ostensson – 70,435

Kicking off on Wednesday is the WPT Spanish Championship, which will emanate from Casino Barcelona. The €3,500 tournament crowns a winner on May 23rd and preliminary events begin on Monday. In June 2009, Mark Flowers defeated Per Sjogren in the finale of the WPT Spanish Championship, which attracted a field of 160 players. (Credit: Poker News Daily)

Poker News Media: Australian Mark Webber Leads Monaco Grand Prix, by Greg Tingle - 17th May 2010

It's hard to dispute that in the world of professional sports (and pseudo sports), there's brands and individuals that have a tendency to dominate the headlines (and grab the best sponsorship deals in the process). Some of the hype is manufactured while some is genuine and fueled along by the sportsmen and women, and their worldwide fan base.

Media Man and Gambling911 have noticed the ever growing trend of sports, entertainment, poker (namely poker) merging, and brands and their stars race to the top, and do their best to maintain pole position, ready to pounce for the next championship.

Even pro wrestling living legend 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair (Fliehr) and his son, Richard, are doing the NASCAR rounds in the U.S.A, and 'Natch' feeling and getting lucky, also came to biz terms with the North Carolina and South Carolina Education Lottery. Woooooo! Son of Hulk Hogan, Nick Hogan, is also showing promise in professional auto racing circles, in a great comeback following the highly publicised Hogan Jr car wreck (in the suburbs) a few years back.

Australia has certainly been making waves in professional sports and news media circles of late.

Of course Aussie Mark Webber has now taken the lead in the Monaco Grand Prix as of last night. Webber is the first Australian to accomplish this feat since the legend Jack Brabham some 51 years ago.

Sports betting firms have plugged into the action with Betfair and Paddy Power being most prominent in the F1 sector and motorsport as a whole.

Interestingly, the current excitement of the F1 sector has seen some of the poker and casino world plug right into the action..

A few weeks ago Richard Branson's Virgin Racing came to sponsorship terms with Full Tilt Poker.

As recently outlined at Gambling911, a number of weeks before the public Virgin - Full Tilt Poker deal, PartyGaming's PartyPoker signed up F1 superstars Jaime Alguersuari and Giancarlo Fisichella as brand ambassadors. Poker legend and World Poker Tour mainstay Mike Sexton remains the global PartyPoker ambassador. Last month following the sporting theme, PartyPoker also signed up Italian football legend Francesco Totti. The financial terms of the poker sponsorship deals are not currently known, as all parties appear to want to keep the details under wraps. PartyGaming, keen to ramp up in Europe, in line with their global strategy is currently running some sports cars promotions (sorry, no F1's as the prize), but here's the specs...

PartyCasino - Grand Win Auto - Win A Maserati GranTurismo

PartyPoker - Drive The Dream - Win a Aston Martin DB9 Coupe

Meanwhile Back To The Action...

Webber's rise has sent bookies and punters into a frenzy, with 50% James Packer owned Betfair taking big money, and Irish owned Paddy Power also seeing a jump in numbers and new accounts.

It is the first time an Australian has led the championship since Alan Jones in 1981.

Webber led from his fourth pole to the finish. It was his second recent win after Spain last weekend.

He finished unchallenged ahead of Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel as the Red Bulls delivered their third successive one-two and fourth in six races this year, this time ahead of Pole Robert Kubica who was third for Renault.

Webber, who has been linked to a move to Ferrari next season, started on pole position and was never really challenged around the tight street circuit.

"To be up there achieving things that Jack Brabham achieved is special for me and difficult to take in just now," Webber said before starting formula one's most iconic race, which he led from start to finish.

"He is a legend in the Webber house and if it was not for Jack Brabham I would not be here now. My dad followed him closely and was a big fan - he always followed open-wheeled racing much more than what we call 'taxi-racing' at home. He has been an inspiration and a friend and he has done a lot for me."

Webber, who last week won the Spanish Grand Prix in similar fashion, shot to the lead at the first turn in his Red Bull dream machine ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Spectators didn't have to wait long for drama, with Nico Hulkenberg (Williams) crashing at 270km/h in the tunnel on the first lap, bringing out the safety car.

Button was the next casualty, with his McLaren's engine overheating on lap three. The safety car departed the track on lap six and the racing resumed. "I think it got a little bit hot on the way to the grid," Button told the BBC. "We left a [air intake] bung in on the left-hand side of the car that obviously you're meant to take out on the way to the grid. That's cooked the engine."

Webber, who could be Ferrari's potential replacement for the Brazilian Felipe Massa next season, set several fastest laps before narrowly avoiding disaster on lap 74 of 78 when two back-markers crashed in front of him. He went to the chequered flag just after the fourth safety car of the race left the track, with Vettel pipping Robert Kubica (Renault) for second place.

Vettel said "I couldn't keep up with him today. He was gone too far away for me and I had to race to stay second this time."

Kubica "I tried to pass Sebastian, but I lost the place on the first lap and that was it."

Massa came home fourth for Ferrari ahead of the 2008 champion Briton Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren with seven-times champion German Michael Schumacher, 41, taking sixth for Mercedes after a controversial move behind the Safety Car to pass Spaniard Fernando Alonso on the final lap.

Schumacher was later penalised 20 seconds for the manoeuvre by stewards and relegated to 12th spot.

Schumacher's Mercedes team-mate and compatriot Nico Rosberg was promoted to seventh ahead of another German Adrian Sutil of Force India. Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi was ninth th in the second Force India.

Webber was almost drawn into a late drama when he came into the Rascasse hairpin to find Italian Jarno Trulli of Lotus colliding with Indian Karun Chandhok of the Hispania team in spectacular fashion.

"He flew in the air and I was just hoping there would be some room to go through on the inside and I would have some options," said Webber. "Thankfully I did."

Chandhok "Jarno Trulli has just apologised to me - there was absolutely no way he could get through there. It's a real shame because I was driving my best race of the year so far and I was on track to be the best of the new teams.

"His car just missed my head. I ducked down and it came over and hit the roll hoop."

Understandably, Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali took a dim view of Schumacher's passing of Alonso behind the safety car.

"That should be the rule... you can't overtake on the final lap. Our understanding of the regulations is pretty clear, but let's just and see what the stewards say."

While Trulli's crash may have been spectacular, it was no more horrifying than the two that saw the two Williams men eliminated earlier when they crashed out - German rookie Hulkenberg in the tunnel and Brazilian veteran Rubens Barrichello at Massanet - in separate incidents.

Both were huge accidents that caused great damage to the cars, ripping off wheels and wings. "After my pit stop, the car was not together, the steering wheel felt numb," said Barrichello. "Something was not good until the crash. They are analysing what went on.."

For Webber, there was no immediate analysis pending. "I predict a few sore heads in the morning," he said. "You have to celebrate your wins and they don't come any better than this."

Meanwhile, Australia scored a rare double at Monaco, with 20-year-old Daniel Ricciardo claiming victory in the final support race.

Ricciardo, from Perth, earned his first win in the World Series by Renault with his debut drive at Monaco and has already been touted a formula one star of the future.

Driving for French Team Tech 1, Ricciardo never looked back after claiming pole position.

Media Man very occasional mentor (but full time inspiration), Sir Richard Branson, quite the business and sporting daredevil all-rounder, summed it up beautifully a few months ago..."We're going to make racing fun and sexy again". Fun and sexy for your Virgin Racing - Full Tilt Poker pairing too we note, but PartyGaming is also in the race. Could be not long until we see a James Packer' Crown Casino - City Of Dreams or Betfair F1 car doing laps, and winning? Don't laugh, stranger things have happened...

Australia in the lead and online poker rooms sponsoring Branson's Virgin Racing... anything is indeed possible as the world of professional motorsport and poker evolves. As real life superhero Bill Goldberg (and his monster truck team say), "Whose Next"? Go Aussie Go!

Poker News Media: Crown Casino Client Ferrari Stolen With Virgin Valet, by Greg Tingle - 14th May 2010

Down under in Melbourne, Australia, one casino punter was feeling extremely lucky, pouncing on an opportunity to steal (not win) a Ferrari F430, when a casino valet handed him the keys. Media Man and Gambling911 follow the story in high speed pursuit...

Melbourne Police have now arrested the formally lucky punter after a Crown Casino valet mistakenly handed over the keys to a Ferrari F430 Spider and he took off for a joyride lasting half a day to Coolaroo of all places.

The 32-year cheeky fella was reportedly wearing a tracksuit when a casino valet gave him the keys to the bright red, V8 supercar about 12.30am today.

Police advise the punter drove north up the Tullamarine Freeway but was pinched by police about 6.30am as he fuelled up at a servo in Coolaroo, on Melbourne's outer northern region.

"He is currently assisting police with their inquiries," she said.

Forensic police will today examine the car, which has been towed to a holding yard in Campbellfield.

The attendant at the servo advised the man filled the beast up with petrol before police nabbed the bandit.

"He just filled up with petrol, came in here, paid for it and the cops were outside and just got him," he said.

"The cops I think were already after him."

The happening starting to generate a serious of state, national and international news stories, with Melbourne 3AW radio enjoying banter with a witness "Mark".

"Someone walked out of the casino past me and the security guard, got in and drove off,". The security guard said to me - because he only had an old tracksuit on - and he said 'you can't pick 'em can you'."

Crown Casino spokesman, top brass, Gary O’Neill said the incident was a first for the casino. He explained customers using valet parking were provided with a ticket to be returned to the casino parking attendant when time to collect your car.

"It has happened in the past from time to time that people lose their tickets, and in these circumstances we ask for proof of identification and a valid driver’s licence. Those procedures were followed on this occasion," he said.

"The procedures that we have followed in the past have not resulted in this particular incident, but that’s not to say our system is perfect," he said.

"We’re cooperating fully with the police investigation."

Mr O’Neill said the incident had been caught on film by their CCTV cameras and the footage would be handed over to police. Crown Casino is known for its world class security, as is it's Sydney competitor Star City. The Australian land casino industry was forced to upgrade security in recent years following a succession of undesirable incidents. Industry insiders sometimes joke about the plastic handcuffs initiative and footy and cricket stars getting pissed at casino events but this matter was very serious in nature. The casino wants its VIPs, high-rollers, whales and the like to know that their transport is in safe hands at Crown Casino.

Melbourne's Police 'Highway Patrol' is known to be world class and its understood that at least 99% of police corruption as featured on Network Nine 'Underbelly' has been cleaned up.

Crown tag lines include 'World Of Entertainment' and 'Wear The Crown'.

Mr James Packer, Australian and Asia Pacific casino and gaming king, remains the owner of Crown Limited. He also owns Burswood Casino aka Burswood Entertainment Complex in Western Australia, and has a number of interests in Macau and Britain, as well as new media - internet entities. Packer remains passionate for sport, meeting Virgin king Richard Branson last year at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix and enjoys polo, as did his late father Kerry Packer.

Ok you want more on the sports car...we hear you...

The F430 went on sale in 2005 with the Spider convertible going for a cool $444,000 AUD, plus options and on-road costs.

F430 production was ceased earlier this year and will be replaced by the flashy458 Italia, which we understand has a two-year waiting list.

Casinos have long been associated with fast cars (and fast, sexy women). In recent years the online casino and online poker sector has plugged into the demo, with PartyGaming and PKR offering sports car as high level prizes.

A few months ago PartyGaming and PKR Poker had a Porsche up for grabs, but no one qualified to win. Not to be disheartened, Party's casino and poker brands are once again offering dream machine grand prizes...

Last week Richard Branson's Virgin Racing came to sponsorship terms with online poker powerhouse Full Tilt Poker. The massive exposure of Virgin's F1 involvement on a international scale was a key reason the deal went ahead.

A number of weeks before the public Virgin - Full Tilt Poker deal, PartyGaming's PartyPoker signed up F1 superstars Jaime Alguersuari and Giancarlo Fisichella as brand ambassadors. Speaking of big names, rumours are circulating that PartyGaming may be in the midst of doing another deal and announcement with movie legend of Rambo and Rocky fame, Sylvester Stallone. Sly is featured in the Rambo online slot game, exclusive to PartyGaming.

PartyGaming eyes return to US as Q1 revenue jumps, by Greg Tingle - 10th May 2010

PartyGaming in talks with U.S. operators over partnership deals

Q1 revenue up 27 pct to $127.1 million; Poker hit by competition from U.S.; Shares down 1.6 percent

Online gambling powerhouse PartyGaming advised it was preparing for a possible return to the United States if legislation banning the industry is overturned, after reporting an impressive 27% rise in first quarter revenue.

PartyGaming, which operates PartyPoker, PartyCasino, and World Poker Tour websites, said it was encouraged by congressmen Barney Frank and Jim McDermott's moves to push through a new bill to regulate online gambling which was made illegal in the United States in 2006.

Chief Executive Jim Ryan told press the most likely initial move by U.S. authorities would be to legalise online poker, seen as a game of skill, which could in time lead to other forms of online gambling being allowed. "We are seeing increased momentum towards regulating online poker. It's possible that it could happen this year and we're prepared if it does," Ryan said on a conference call.

Ryan said PartyGaming had set up an operation in Los Angeles with 38 staff and was in talks over possible business-to-business deals with U.S. operators.

"We've got any number of U.S. operators who we're talking to right now about providing them with online gaming services and software. That gives us good reason to think that regulation isn't that far way," he said.

Rival 888's Chief Executive Gigi Levy said last month he expected changes to online gaming laws in the U.S. to be implemented in the coming months.

Analysts say the online gaming industry is ready for consolidation and PartyGaming is reported to have held talks with Austria's bwin over a potential combination - collaboration.

"We are actively working on various opportunities. Discussions are at a preliminary stage with those that we are talking to," said Ryan, who declined to confirm whether the company was in talks with bwin.

PartyGaming reported first-quarter gross revenue of $127.1 million, benefiting from growth in its casino, bingo and sports betting divisions. However, revenue from the firms poker offering declined because of competition from websites continuing to take bets from U.S.-based gamblers, some press and insider say... illegally.

Laws governing gaming, igaming, online gambling and the like have caused great confusion in the U.S in recent years. PartyGaming is one of many gaming companies seeking clarity.

Numbers

PartyGaming said its average daily revenue had slowed in the second quarter which is traditionally a quieter period for the industry and were down between 6 and 7 percent on the average for the previous quarter.

The company also said it had signed a business-to-business deal with Aviation Club de France which will join its French poker network. France made certain kinds of online gambling legal in April.

Shares in PartyGaming were down 1.6 percent to 280.4 pence at 1023 GMT. The shares have lost 15 percent of their value over the last month reflecting disappointment over the lack of developments on the M&A front and the read-across from a weak trading statement from rival 888.

"None of these factors detract from the long-term attractions of PartyGaming as a leading player in a global growth market. Therefore, we view the recent share price weakness as a buying opportunity," said KBC Peel Hunt analyst Nick Batram.

PartyGaming claims to be the world's leading igaming company... a claim few will argue with. The firm was established in 1997 and is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

PartyGaming Inks Deal With Aviation Club de France, by Greg Tingle - 9th May 2010

Websites

PartyPoker.com WPTPoker.com WPTCasino.com PartyCasino.com AviationClubdeFrance.com

PartyGaming has inked its B2B deal in France is applying for a French gaming licence.

This deal sees Aviation Club de France, a land-based gambling venue off the Champs Elysees in Paris and France's leading card room, maintain its world class status. The club is understood to sport in excess of 100,000 members. Aviation Club will join PartyGaming's French poker network when laws permits it to go ahead.

Aviation Club de France will join other gaming operators on the network including PartyGaming's own France-facing site, PartyGaming.fr, current French racing powerhouse Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU), and television broadcaster AB Groupe, following an agreement inked last month.

PartyGaming is keen to see the French gaming licence granted and don't foresee delays.

The licence system, which was approved by the French parliament last month, means that PartyGaming will switch off domestic casino and bingo when licensing is approved, resulting in the removal of annualised revenues of approximately $12m.

Media Man and its Casino News Media and Global Gaming Directory arms are very excited as to what this means to the continued global strategy and growth.

The gaming and news media world is following the progress of the PartyGaming deals in France to help evaluate their own strategy regarding gaming, government and land based projects.

Major U.S, Canadian and Australian based casinos and clubs are taking a very close look at this deal and how it pans out, advised a Media Man media and gaming spokesperson.

PartyGaming - PartyPoker Online sponsorship deals continue

Leading listed online gaming operator PartyGaming has announced that Australian Tyron Krost has become the latest member of its Team Party Poker sponsored squad of players.

Gibraltar-based PartyGaming operates popular Internet poker site PartyPoker.com and revealed that Krost would join well-known players including Tony Guoga, Kara Scott, Mike Sexton, Dragan Galic, Bodo Sbrzesny, Ian Frazer and Felipe Ramos on the domain and at land-based events around the world.

Twenty-three-year-old Krost recently won the main event of the Aussie Millions tournament to pocket $1.85 million and stated that he was pleased to sign such a sponsorship deal with the Gibraltar-licensed site.

“I suppose it’s any serious poker player’s dream to get a sponsorship and I can’t think of a better site to represent than PartyPoker.com,” said the Sydney native.

“From speaking to all levels of management, it’s clear to see that the site is moving in the right direction. I feel incredibly lucky to be a member of Team Party Poker and offered the chance to help make PartyPoker.com one of the best places to play online.”

Krost began playing poker with his friends at the age of 18 before buying some books on the subject in order to help his game. He then made his first deposit of $50 at PartyPoker.com and began competing at limit hold’em for a year on the domain’s $1/$2 tables before moving up to the $5/$10 level.

The New South Welshman then moved on to tournament play at PartyPoker.com and was almost immediately successful. He first entered a $33 no-limit hold’em tournament in 2006 and beat 189 players to win just over $1,000. After this, he triumphed in another competition to pocket $3,102 before entering further tournaments for even more cash success.

“Along the way I’ve cashed a couple live events including the 2008 World Series Of Poker main event where I finished 249th but I’ve played nearly all of my poker online,” said Krost.

“Winning the Aussie Millions this year was a totally crazy experience and something which will never seem real. I wasn’t planning on heading to Melbourne and entered a $640 satellite on PartyPoker.com at the last minute on a whim. I won my seat without too much trouble and had a couple months to look forward to it. I took my younger brother with me and we had an awesome time watching the tennis and hanging out. I think being relaxed without any expectations helped a lot.

Once PartyGaming obtains the required licence and is operational, players on the network will benefit from a shared pool of player liquidity and operate on a single platform.

Founded in 1907 by four pioneering French aviators, today ACF has 100,000 members and is the leading card room in France. The club is a regular host of World Poker Tour’s events including the forthcoming Grand Prix de Paris to be held on 8-16 May 2010. The new online poker service will be promoted through a variety of channels to ACF’s extensive customer base.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Jim Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of PartyGaming, said:

“ACF is a great addition to our French poker network and allows us to directly connect with France’s offline poker players. This deal is a great strategic fit and together with our other B2B alliances in France, we are determined to establish a strong position in what we believe will become one of Europe’s largest poker markets.

PartyGaming, operator of PartyPoker, announced Monday that it had entered into a partnership with one of France’s largest television broadcasters. The deal will have PartyGaming provide a white label online poker room for AB Groupe, a company with 15 subscription channels and 52 million paid subscribers across France and other French speaking countries.

The new poker room will be called LuckyJeux (meaning Lucky Games) and will join PartyPoker.fr on PartyGaming’s French poker network. Also on the network is another white label PartyGaming product, the online poker room of Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU), which is France’s state-run horse racing monopoly. PartyGaming and PMU forged that deal near the end of March.

PMU will not be a monopoly for long, however, as earlier this month, French lawmakers approved a bill to legalize online gambling, eliminating the government monopoly. The timing of the agreement with AB Groupe was no coincidence. In a press release issued by PartyGaming, the online gambling giant’s CEO Jim Ryan said, “AB Groupe is a first rate addition to our French poker network and is consistent with our stated strategy of combining B2C and B2B offerings in newly regulated markets. Together with our recently announced alliance with PMU, we are in great shape ahead of the market opening and are excited about our prospects.”

AB Groupe owns the French television station RTL9, which made poker headlines at the beginning of April as a key player in a lawsuit filed by Ultra Internet Media (UIM), the parent company of Everest Poker, against Harrah’s, owners of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). In 2008, UIM signed a three-year agreement with Harrah’s to make Everest Poker the on-felt sponsor of the WSOP, a deal which would have UIM pay a total of $22.5 million. According to UIM, RTL9 substituted the Everest Poker logo with that of rival Full Tilt Poker in its broadcasts of the WSOP. Officials from Everest Poker, ESPN, and Harrah’s met in February 2009 to discuss the issue, but while promises were made to have Full Tilt’s logo removed, it remained in the broadcasts. UIM has sued Harrah’s for breach of contract and is withholding its 2010 payment.

In addition to the WSOP, RTL9 airs episodes of “Poker after Dark” and the National Heads-Up Poker Championship. The station’s website also advertises promotions with Full Tilt. On AB Groupe’s own website, the company offers a contest in which visitors can send a text message or call a pay-per-play phone number to enter a sweepstakes for a seat in the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
